Your Lung in 2100
2023
Typography poster, AR
Your Lung in 2100 is a wearable augmented reality (AR) experience that visualizes the invisible threat of air pollution. A t-shirt printed with typography depicting a human lung comes to life when viewed through a phone camera: the design animates to reveal pollutants accumulating inside the lungs over time, projected to the year 2100.
Users first select a location (California, Indiana, or New York), then watch as air pollutant particles appear and build up on the shirt in real time. Touching any pollutant opens a short panel explaining what it is, where it comes from, and its health risks, drawing on air quality data and current research on particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10, PM0.1), NOx, SOx, CO, VOCs, and ozone.
The project makes an invisible public health threat visible and interactive, aiming to build awareness of air pollution's impact and motivate viewers toward more environmentally sustainable behavior.
